Dedicated to the memory of Tina

This site is a tribute to Dorothy Christina Boyle. She is very much loved and treasured and will always be remembered.

Known as Tina to many, Mum to the fortunate four, and Nanny to the lucky one.

Tina's life began in a special place when she was born in The Grenadier, Belgravia 18th December 1934.

The Grenadier is still there today and holds a special place in our hearts, please raise a toast to Tina whenever you are there, she was very proud of her unusual birthplace.

Tina lived in Battersea for most of her life, some special locations being Battersea Church Road, Candahar Road, and Simpson Street. She seemed to know everyone and if you went out with her it would take an hour to get down the road as everyone wanted to stop and chat.

Tina grew up in a big family with 4 brothers and 2 sisters. She was sad to be evacuated in the war without her siblings and missed them very much. She also missed her beloved grandad "Fat Daddy" and spoke fondly of him for the rest of her life.

Tina was very clever, she did really well at school and loved learning.

Tina married her Irish pen-pal Bill 2nd March 1957 at St Vincent de Paul Church, Altenburg Gardens, Battersea. Tina had to become a Catholic to marry her Bill and did so gladly. They married at a time when they were faced with signs on the doors saying "No blacks, no dogs, no Irish". They lived in lots of different lodgings in the Lavender Hill area before settling in Candahar Road, Battersea.

Tina was the most wonderful, supportive, and loving Mum and became the most fantastic Nanny to Georgia 19th September 1985.

Tina enjoyed working and particularly enjoyed working in the bank at Pall Mall as her first job and at the library at The London School of Economics as her last job.

When her Bill became unwell, Tina nursed him until she was sadly widowed at the age of 51.

Tina was the very best daughter, sister, aunty, friend, wife, mother, and nanny that anyone could ever have, she enriched the lives of others.

Sadly, Tina's life changed significantly at 61 due to brain injury following surgery for an aneurysm.

Tina's last years were spent at Ronald Gibson House which recently became The Meadowcroft. We will be forever grateful for the love and care that Tina received there. We always felt reassured that Tina was accepted and loved by the dedicated team of staff and that has been a great comfort.

Tina's last days were peaceful, comfortable and without pain. She will be forever loved, adored, treasured and cherished. Thank you for loving Tina and contributing to her life.

In the words of Tina "love, love, love" and “please can I have a kiss” x
